Love in a Headscarf by Shelina Zahra Janmohamed
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
At first I thought it just a mere seeking-for-the-one story and my interest to bought it mainly because i'm trying to look for other muslim woman view on marriage. And LIAH, for me trying to reveal what's inside the headscarf. I could relate it to me even not all because I'm a muslim asian woman (woman?..lady ^^) but not Indian as the origin of the character (shelina). I would say, the culture her community bring to Britain is so much preserve instead of the assimilation they've made to survive. The best part I love about this book is shelina was trying to answer to misconception about muslim women. and i'm on her side how the culture should not over-shadow the faith. The faith first and any cultural thing parallel to the faith there's no problem to accept or reject, the one contradict the faith should be modified.
